Training providers are increasingly turning to Onefile software to help them deliver their skills bootcamps. In fact, latest figures show that between 2022 and 2023 the number of bootcamp learners created on Onefile rose by a massive 286%.
Bootcamps with Onefile allow colleges and other training providers to capture, monitor, analyse and report people's learning journeys, leading to greater efficiency and transparency for tutors, assessors, employers and learners.Key features offered by Onefile software include:
Research by Onefile also found that its Learning Journal, Timesheet and Assessment features are especially popular.
Tutors who use Onefile tell us they record all bootcamp teaching and learning sessions then add them to the courses area for revision and reflection. They also utilise quizzes within the courses to check that learning has been completed.
Skills Bootcamps, first launched by the UK government in August 2020, are flexible training courses for adults aged 19 and over. They can run for up to 16 weeks with participants offered a job interview once they've completed the course. Employers can use this scheme to hire staff or to develop skills of the current workforce. According to GOV.UK statistics there were 40,040 bootcamp starts in England during 2022 to 2023.
Bootcamps offer hundreds of courses in a range of sectors, including digital skills, such as digital marketing, software development, data engineering and coding. They also provide training in technical skills, such as construction, logistics (HGV driving), engineering and manufacturing - and in skills that support the green economy, such as electric vehicles, heat pump technology, solar energy and agriculture technology. And learners are not restricted to taking just one course; they can enrol on further bootcamps.
Such is Onefile's expertise in successful bootcamp training delivery, that our head of business Richard Meredith was recently invited to contribute to an online webinar run by AELP, the Association of Employment and Learning Providers.
The webinar, entitled Best Practice in Design and Delivery, was facilitated by Maureen Deary, FE inspector, strategic adviser and consultant in Further Education & Skills (FES) and Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in Governance, Leadership, Management & Quality.
Maureen was joined by guest speaker Ian Smith of FES consulting Ltd, a former senior HMI Inspector and consultant to the FE & Skills sector. The webinar explored best practice in the design of an effective bootcamp curriculum for adults, including top tips for achieving a grade 2 'good' Ofsted rating.
It also looked at how to streamline self-assessment reports (SAR) and quality improvement plans (QIP), review the effectiveness of curriculum planning and help adult learners realise their potential and achieve successful job outcomes.
Richard Meredith, Head of New Business, said: "Skills Bootcamps are an excellent way for employers to recruit employees with the right training and skill set and to up-skill existing staff. They can also lead to accelerated apprenticeships because they are considered prior learning. This can cut the length of an apprenticeship programme, saving your business or organisation time and money.
"It's important, however that the courses included in this scheme are aimed at individuals, with tailored learning that's not 'one size fits all.'
"We are delighted with the feedback we have received to date and the huge increase in bootcamp learners joining Onefile. It's evidence of just how well we can support employers, trainers and learners at every stage of the bootcamp learning journey, taking the legwork out of the entire process and producing the desired results."
