In 2010, Sussex Police faced a familiar challenge: managing apprenticeship training through traditional, paper-based systems. This approach was time-consuming, resource-heavy, and required frequent in-person meetings to review learner portfolios. As the organisation expanded its training provision, it became clear they needed a more efficient, scalable solution that could support both learners and assessors while meeting the strict compliance demands of a regulated sector.
Sussex Police adopted Onefile to digitise their apprenticeship delivery. While there was some initial hesitation, the platform quickly proved its value.
Tutors and learners could now access portfolios remotely, reducing the need for travel and enabling real-time feedback and progress tracking. Karen Hanna, IQA, AET AVT Coordinator, and Onefile Centre Manager, praised the platform’s user-friendly interface and powerful reporting tools, which helped meet compliance requirements for Ofsted and Skills for Justice.
Onefile also supported flexible course structures, including both 1-year and 3-year programmes, and enabled seamless collaboration with Higher Education Institutes. Features like tutor reassignment and task transfers ensured continuity even when staff changed.
