We're committed to great ideas in tech, which is why we've won the Queen's Award for Innovation - twice. First, we created the first apprenticeship Eportfolio, and launched the first offline app. Then in 2022, we won again for introducing the Learning Hub - a cloud-based technology for personalised learning that improves teaching quality, tracking, and learner and employer engagement.
We never stop adapting our software to keep up with and accommodate sector changes. With a series of major apprenticeship reforms over the past few years, we've developed seven brand-new features to support the new standards:
With Onefile's evaluation scorecard, apprentices can easily rate their understanding of each Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour (KSB) in the standard before they start their programme - to create a 'baseline' or 'starting point'.
Apprentices can also score and evaluate their skills throughout the programme. Our system plots this data into a graph to evidence progression of learning over time - which is exactly what Ofsted wants to see.
With Onefile's learning journal, apprentices can reflect on learning as they go. Learners complete journal entries, upload evidence, and share it to their learning timeline. This allows tutors and employers to easily monitor progress, and leave comments and feedback in a transparent, joined-up way.
One major reform within apprenticeships was the shift from frameworks to standards - which shifted the focus from assessing to learning. It means that training providers play a bigger role in developing and personalizing course content.
In response, we developed a course builder so that training providers can develop their own programmes online. The system maps content to the criteria within each standard so you can automatically track progress and compliance. As part of this, you can create banks of learning resources online - from workbooks to video content and quizzes to test knowledge as learners progress.
With all the resources at learners' finger tips, it's an ideal way to prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment (EPA).
We've developed our timesheet feature so that apprentices can track their off-the-job training hours within their Eportfolios. It's really easy for learners to input and share details with employers so they can keep track of progress.
Some new standards assign weightings to different components. We've developed a new feature which enables centres to have complete control over these weightings for both on-programme learning, as well as the end-point assessment.
Our in-house standards team can build bespoke standards just for you and your centre. We also have hundreds already uploaded onto the system, so they're ready to go when you are!
Some end-point assessment organisations (EPAOs) ask to see a portfolio of evidence as part of the End Point Assessment (EPA). In response, we've developed a portfolio showcase, where learners can create an online collection of their best evidence. As part of this, learners can select the best pieces, download them into a read-only zip file and generate a report - all of which can be emailed to the end-point assessment centre as part of the EPA.
As leaders in the apprenticeship sector, we're very well prepared for all of the new apprenticeship reforms. From off-the-job training to apprenticeship standards, we've revolutionised our eportfolio so that it fits the bill for the new world of apprenticeships.
